PRESS RELEASE

Will Nella Domenici Finally Come Clean to Voters About Her Wall Street past?

Nella Domenici, multimillionaire former hedge fund executive and second senior official of Bridgewater Associates to run for U.S. Senate this year, continues to spend considerable amounts of campaign cash to gloss over her shocking business record as Chief Financial Officer of the world’s largest hedge fund.

Nella’s first ad conveniently ignored her time at Bridgewater Associates, well known for its connection to fellow scandal-ridden GOP candidate for Pennsylvania Senate David McCormick. Her second ad, released last week, offered voters no new information about where she stands on issues important to New Mexico.

Will this be the week Nella finally comes clean to New Mexico voters about her Wall Street past?

“Nella’s record as CFO at Bridgewater Associates—while the company invested in Chinese companies controlled by the military, maintained troubling ties to Russia and Vladimir Putin, and faced massive workplace scandals—raises serious questions about her priorities and values,” said Democratic Party of New Mexico Spokesperson Daniel Garcia. “It’s time for her to address the scandals and controversies head-on and be honest with the voters of New Mexico.”

As Chief Financial Officer of Bridgewater Associates, Nella served in a senior leadership role while the company:

  • Increased investments in Chinese companies, including companies that were controlled by the Chinese military and would later be sanctioned.

  • Expanded its deep ties with China and the Chinese Communist Party, including raising billions of dollars for its hedge fund clients from Chinese clients including the China Investment Corporation sovereign wealth fund and the State Administration of Foreign Exchange, which manages the country’s currency reserves.

  • Maintained troubling ties to Russia and Vladimir Putin.

  • Faced massive scandals over the unacceptable ways the company treated its employees, including worker discrimination, illegal labor practices and sexual harassment.

Nella has yet to answer questions or face scrutiny from the press over her record at Bridgewater Associates.
