NM Democrats Overwhelmed GOP in Early Voting

Once Again, New Mexican Republicans Incapable of Exciting Voters

On the eve of New Mexico’s primary election, the numbers speak for themselves - Democrats overwhelmed Republicans in absentee and early voting turnout.

Statewide data from the New Mexico Secretary of State shows 118,005 total votes cast in early and absentee voting before election day. Democrats account for 72,941 and Republicans just 44,728 of these votes, a difference amounting to 28,213

On Saturday, the last day of early voting, Democrats built on their lead by casting 9096 votes to Republicans’ 5137.

“The overwhelming difference in Democratic over Republican voter turnout heading into election day proves once again that the Republican Party of New Mexico is utterly incapable of running a slate of candidates that can excite voters,” said Democratic Party of New Mexico Spokesperson Daniel Garcia.

The Democratic Party of New Mexico is not waiting for the general election to establish our statewide campaign infrastructure. For months, DPNM has been organizing in counties across the state to build up volunteer capacity and get out the vote in the primary election.
