MAGA Mayor Hull Can't be Trusted With Money

Gregg Hull skipped out on child support and let the Trump campaign stiff Rio Rancho residents for $240,000

Last week, the Santa Fe New Mexican uncovered that MAGA Mayor Gregg Hull skipped out on child support payments to a young woman he met and later married when she was a 16-year-old minor and he was a 20-year-old adult.

According to the article, Hull claims he “forgot” about court proceedings spanning from the 1990s to 2000s to settle various child support disputes.

Similarly, Hull neglected to follow up with Donald Trump to pay the bill for Trump’s rally in Rio Rancho.  As Mayor of Rio Rancho, Gregg Hull welcomed Trump’s campaign to hold a rally at the Santa Ana Star Center in 2019. According to the City of Rio Rancho’s own estimates, the Trump rally cost the City $240,000. However, Gregg Hull decided to let Donald Trump completely off the hook without paying the City a dollar, in subservience to the national MAGA Republican agenda at the expense of New Mexicans.

Hull called the MAGA rally “flawless” and “beautiful,” despite being costly for the people of Rio Rancho. Meanwhile, the City of Albuquerque billed the Trump campaign for the expenses associated with staying in downtown Albuquerque and even sent the outstanding debt to collections after Trump failed to pay up.

“Gregg Hull skipped out on his child support payments, and as Mayor, gladly let Donald Trump skip out on the $240,000 he owed the City for a campaign rally, leaving New Mexicans to foot the bill. Gregg Hull could be counted on to fold to the Trump Administration and has shown he doesn’t have the financial responsibility to handle the complex state budget, tax laws, or capital improvement projects, lacking what it takes to be Governor,” said Democratic Party of New Mexico Spokesperson Daniel Garcia.

While marrying a minor, failing to pay child support, and selling out New Mexicans for a Trump rally raise some troubling ethical issues, New Mexicans should also be concerned that Gregg Hull would sell out New Mexico to the Trump Administration and is too financially irresponsible to be Governor.
