DPNM Announces 2024 Delegate Selection Plan

Plan will Emphasize Regional and Demographic Equity and Inclusion

Today, The Democratic Party of New Mexico (DPNM) announced its 2024 Delegate Selection Plan, which details the process for registered Democrats to run as delegates to represent New Mexico at the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

Delegates are elected at a series of county, congressional district, and state conventions held after the New Mexico Presidential Primary in 2024. Delegates will then travel to the DNC National Convention in Chicago to convey our state’s votes for the Democratic presidential nominee.

The Delegate Selection Plan will include provisions to ensure fair and diverse representation that represents New Mexico's ethnic and regional diversity. DPNM will proactively reach out to historically underrepresented communities to build a delegation that represents the diversity of our party.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for everyday Democrats from across New Mexico to get involved in a unique grassroots political process,” said DPNM Executive Director Sean Ward. “This plan will ensure Democrats in every corner of New Mexico have the information and assistance they need to run as a delegate while ensuring we uphold our commitments to equity and inclusion. By working to organize Democrats across New Mexico during the delegation selection process and creating excitement for the National Convention, we'll build enthusiasm to catapult DPNM into our 2024 campaign efforts."

The Delegate Selection Plan can be viewed on DPNM's website here and is available for public comment until June 6th.

At the DNC National Convention, the Party’s presidential and vice presidential candidates will be nominated and the Party’s national platform will be adopted. The DNC works closely with State Parties to ensure every state’s delegate selection process is open to all who wish to participate as Democrats and is conducted in conformity with the National Party’s rules and governing documents.
