2026 Primary Election

In 2026, New Mexico will hold a statewide primary election. The 2026 Primary will be a semi-open, meaning Decline to State voters can decide which party primary they want to participate in. During the primary, voters select candidates from their political party to appear on the general election ballot. Offices on the ballot include federal, state, and local positions. Information about how to register to vote, update your registration, or request an absentee ballot will be available through official state and county election offices.

Democratic Candidates are currently collecting petition signatures to get on the ballot. Voters can only sign petitions for one candidate per elected office. Click here to sign them online with the Secretary of State. Click here to view our folder for printed petitions.

The offices on the primary ballot will include the following:

  • U.S. Senate

  • U.S. House Races (New Mexico Congressional Districts 1, 2, and 3)

  • New Mexico Governor

2026 General Election

The general election will take place in 2026, where voters will decide races for federal, state, and local offices. This includes elections for U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, Governor, statewide offices, state legislature, and other key offices. Voter registration and early voting opportunities are set by the state, and official guidance will be available through the New Mexico Secretary of State and county clerks.
