Elected in September of 2009, Chairman Gonzales was nominated to the position by Lt. Governor Diane Denish to fill the position vacated by Brian Colon. Gonzales ran unopposed and was elected by the members of the State Central Committee by acclamation. Gonzales is proud to be the only Hispanic state party chair and one of two Hispanic Democratic party chairs in the United States (the other is Puerto Rico's chair). Gonzales' was re-elected in April of 2011 and will serve until 2013.

Gonzales served as a Santa Fe County Commissioner from 1994 to 2002. During his term, he also was elected president of the National Association of Counties (NACo). In its 66 year history, he was the youngest elected president and also the first Hispanic president of the organization. He has also served as chief representative for NACo testifying before Congress, the White House and the Administration, serving as an expert witness to the U.S. Senate and the White House on Homeland Security.

Currently, Gonzales is leading the effort to bring a state-of-the-art film studio to Santa Fe. Santa Fe Studios was conceived as a world-class and environmentally sustainable facility which will encompass up to 500,00 square feet of studio stages, is expected to employ 500 New Mexicans and generate an annual payroll impact of $71 million to the local economy.

Gonzales earned his B.A. in Accounting from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico in 1989. He currently serves as a Vice-Chair of the New Mexico State Board of Regents.

A lifelong resident of Santa Fe County, Gonzales' commitment and dedication to public service is a family tradition. His father, George Gonzales, also served as a Santa Fe County Commissioner and later was elected Mayor of the City of Santa Fe in the 1970s. Gonzales has two daughters, Cameron and Cadence Gonzales.

Annadelle has been involved in politics since she was “5 years old” when her father was a Precinct Chair. For 36 years she worked for National Education Association of New Mexico as the director of Political Affairs. Annadelle’s first job was in the office of Governor Burroughs which she started just after graduating from high school.

She continued working there summers and holidays through her college career at University of New Mexico (UNM). During her UNM years she was Vice-Chair of the Young Democrats (a tradition her children continued when they went to UNM). She has been involved in all the Presidential campaigns and conventions since John F. Kennedy when she was a Kennedy Girl. In 1964 she went to the convention in Atlantic City, N.J. as a Johnson Girl. For 18 years Annadelle was the Regional Vice-Chair of the Democrat Party for the 3rd District and is now the State Vice-Chair. Annadelle lives in Espanola and is married to Max Sanchez, the former State Auditor, and is the mother of two children, a son Steven and a daughter Erica.

Mary Gail has been married for 54 years to former State Senator Lamar Gwaltney, and they have four children, born and raised in New Mexico. She taught in Las Cruces Public Schools and with her husband owned and operated several small businesses. She has been active in New Mexico State
politics since 1957, served as Democratic National Committeewoman since 1988. She served as the Secretary of Western States Caucus of DNC from 1990-2000, on the DNC Executive Board from 2000 to present, and as the DNC Women’s Caucus Secretary from 2009 to present.

Mary Gail has also served as Dona Ana County Chair from 1987-1995 and as interim Democratic Party of New Mexico State Party Chair in 2002. She held the prestigious honor serving as Presidential Elector for Bill Clinton/Al Gore in 1992 as well as for Al Gore/Joe Lieberman in 2000. Additionally, Mary Gail has assisted and organized campaigns for U.S. Senate and Congress, as well many statewide and local campaigns.

Admirably, Mary Gail received an 8-year appointment from President Bill Clinton to the President’s Advisory Committee on the Arts/John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

Christine is an active Democratic who lives in Albuquerque and was born and raised in Taos, New Mexico. Her father was a land grant recipient of Piedras Lumbres and Conejos Land Grants. She traces her family back to late 1600's with 16 brothers and sisters (11 siblings still alive.) Currently, Christine is the President of New Mexico Federation of Labor-AFL-CIO (the first educator and female to serve in that role and one of three women in the nation); President of New Mexico Federation of Educational Employees/American Federation of Teachers; twenty year veteran teacher (on leave of absence); Commissioner-Public Education Commission-District 3; Albuquerque Member - Education Commission of the States (Appointed by Governor Richardson 2003); Member - NMPSIA (New Mexico Public School Insurance Authority); Vice President - Parents Reaching Out for Children with Disabilities; Vice-Chair LESC Charter School Ad Hoc; Committee Member, LESC EIATF Ad Hoc Committee (Educational Initiatives and Accountability Task Force); UNM Educational Leadership Task Force President; De Colores Hispanic Culture Festival Vice President for Scholarships; MANA de Albuquerque Vice President; and New Mexico Human Rights Coalition Member - NARAL-NM Her awards are numerous and include the "Si Se Puede" Achievement Award, the Albuquerque Human Rights Award, the "Brindis a la Mujer Hispana" Award, the "Women on the Move" Award, the MANA National Public Service Award, and the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce Honored Visionaries in Education Award.

Christine Trujilo was invited by General George Casey to speak in Bad Krazneuch, Giessen, Baumholder in Germany and the first ever speaker to address the deployed troops in Kosovo at Camp Montieth and Camp Bondsteel. She was also the Keynote Speaker for American Federation of Teachers’ Human Rights Conference. Trujillo’s father is Pablo Augustine Trujillo who was deceased in 1996 and her mother is Susanna Floripa Trujillo de Gonzales— who is alive is 86 years old. Her father, Pablo A. Trujillo, was a guitar player with a group called Los Alegres de Taos. They played "la musica de los viejitos" turn of the century music and his music is in the archives at the Smithsonian. In addition, he had a big role in the movie, the Milagro Beanfield War. He was a character named Gomersindo Leyba in the "Senile Brigade" (the little old men with the guns in the old truck). He had several speaking lines and his band of musicians plays at the end of the movie in the beanfield harvest scene. Christine received her Masters Degree in Elementary Education from the University of New Mexico in 1988 after receiving a B.A. in Elementary Education with Bilingual Certification from New Mexico Highlands University. She has 2 daughters, 2 stepsons, and 1 absolutely darling granddaughter.

Jim was born in Minnesota where his first political memories included shaking hands with Adlai Stevenson and seeing Dwight Eisenhower at a train station whistle stop tour in his home town. He completed high school, attended college, married Lynn, and worked at various jobs until he was drafted into the military while completing his junior year. Jim served as a combat medic with the 1st Infantry Division in Vietnam when he received a traumatic brain injury on April 1, 1968 while treating a casualty for which he was medically retired from the Army. After rehabilitation in Colorado, he returned to college and then to San Antonio, TX where he completed his training at the University of Texas Medical School's Cytotechnology program. His career was as a Staff Cytotechnologist at Brooke Army Medical Center for 4 years and then at the Audie Murphy VA Medical Center as the Chief Cytotechnologist where he retired in 1996.

Immediately after retiring, Jim and Lynn moved to New Mexico to stay away from Minnesota winters and Texas summers. While in New Mexico, Jim has held several positions in DPBC politics including Precinct Chair, Ward Chair, First Vice-Chair and currently as the CD1 Vice-Chair. In 2004, he was the State Co-Coordinator of Veteran's for Kerry and attended the Platform Committee meeting in Ft. Lauterdale, FL and later the DNC Convention in Boston, MA as the Platform Committee delegate. In 2008, he continued his service as the State Coordinator of Veteran's for Obama and after the election as the State Coordinator of Organizing for America: Veteran's and Military Families.

Believing that volunteerism is important to society, he has served in numerous capacities including providing free PAP smears at the San Antonio Free Clinic for 2 years, service on numerous Professional committees of the International Academy of Cytology, American Society of Cytopathology and Texas Society of Cytology. Additionally, he served as a City Councilor for Fair Oaks Ranch, TX for 4 terms where his duties included the Director of Emergency Services and Emergency Management Coordinator. In New Mexico, Jim provided after care at the Animal Humane Society spay-neuter clinic for 2 years, developed the UNM Medical School Cytopathology Resident teaching slides for 2 years and served on the Governor's Commission on Disability for over 6 years including one year as it's Chair.

Jim’s term runs through 2013.
