Elected in September of 2009, Chairman Gonzales was nominated to the position by Lt. Governor Diane Denish to fill the position vacated by Brian Colon. Gonzales ran unopposed and was elected by the members of the State Central Committee by acclamation. Gonzales' term will expire in April of 2011.

Gonzales served as a Santa Fe County Commissioner from 1994 to 2002. During his term, he also was elected president of the National Association of Counties (NACo). In its 66 year history, he was the youngest elected president and also the first Hispanic president of the organization. He has also served as chief representative for NACo testifying before Congress, the White House and the Administration, serving as an expert witness to the U.S. Senate and the White House on Homeland Security.

Currently, Gonzales is leading the effort to bring a state-of-the-art film studio to Santa Fe. Santa Fe Studios was conceived as a world-class and environmentally sustainable facility which will encompass up to 500,00 square feet of studio stages, is expected to employ 500 New Mexicans and generate an annual payroll impact of $71 million to the local economy.

Gonzales earned his B.A. in Accounting from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico in 1989. He currently serves as a Vice-Chair of the New Mexico State Board of Regents.

A lifelong resident of Santa Fe County, Gonzales' committment and dedication to public service is a family tradition. His father, George Gonzales, also served as a Santa Fe County Commissioner and later was elected Mayor of the City of Santa Fe in the 1970s. Gonzales has two daughters, Cameron and Cadence Gonzales.

Annadelle has been involved in politics since she was “5 years old” when her father was a Precinct Chair. For 36 years she worked for National Education Association of New Mexico as the director of Political Affairs. Annadelle’s first job was in the office of Governor Burroughs which she started just after graduating from high school.

She continued working there summers and holidays through her college career at University of New Mexico (UNM). During her UNM years she was Vice-Chair of the Young Democrats (a tradition her children continued when they went to UNM). She has been involved in all the Presidential campaigns and conventions since John F. Kennedy when she was a Kennedy Girl. In 1964 she went to the convention in Atlantic City, N.J. as a Johnson Girl. For 18 years Annadelle was the Regional Vice-Chair of the Democrat Party for the 3rd District and is now the State Vice-Chair. Annadelle lives in Espanola and is married to Max Sanchez, the former State Auditor, and is the mother of two children, a son Steven and a daughter Erica.

Tom Buckner is a lifelong Democrat.  His first political campaign was in 1952, at the age of 11 arguing on behalf of Adlai Stevenson.  Tom has been in the financial world since 1959 when he began his career in banking and bank regulation.  He retired from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in 1999.  Upon retirement, Tom was no longer restricted by the Hatch Act and actively began working in politics.  He later went to work for Attorney General Patricia Madrid as Chief Investigator of the New Mexico Medicaid Fraud Control Division and was later appointed by Governor Richardson to the position of Deputy Superintendent of the Regulation and Licensing Department.  In 2006 he ran as State Auditor of New Mexico.  In 2008 Attorney General Gary King employed Tom as a white-collar crime investigator.  He has served as the treasurer of multiple campaigns in Sandoval County.  Both Tom and his wife Sue are active in the New Mexico Democratic Club in Rio Rancho.  Tom and Sue enjoy helping Democrats get elected.

Mary Gail Gwaltney

Mary Gail has been married for 54 years to former
State Senator Lamar Gwaltney, and they have four children, born and raised in
New Mexico. She taught in Las Cruces Public Schools and with her husband owned
and operated several small businesses. She has been active in New Mexico State
politics since 1957, served as Democratic National Committeewoman since 1988. She
served as the Secretary of Western States Caucus of DNC from 1990-2000, on the
DNC Executive Board from 2000 to present, and as the DNC Women’s Caucus
Secretary from 2009 to present.

Mary Gail has also served as Dona Ana County
Chair from 1987-1995 and as interim Democratic Party of New Mexico State Party
Chair in 2002. She held the prestigious honor serving as Presidential Elector
for Bill Clinton/Al Gore in 1992 as well as for Al Gore/Joe Lieberman in 2000.
Additionally, Mary Gail has assisted and organized campaigns for U.S. Senate
and Congress, as well many statewide and local campaigns.

Admirably, Mary Gail received an 8-year appointment
from President Bill Clinton to the President’s Advisory Committee on the
Arts/John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

Christine is an active Democratic who lives in Albuquerque and was born and raised in Taos, New Mexico. Her father was a land grant recipient of Piedras Lumbres and Conejos Land Grants. She traces her family back to late 1600's with 16 brothers and sisters (11 siblings still alive.) Currently, Christine is the President of New Mexico Federation of Labor-AFL-CIO (the first educator and female to serve in that role and one of three women in the nation); President of New Mexico Federation of Educational Employees/American Federation of Teachers; twenty year veteran teacher (on leave of absence); Commissioner-Public Education Commission-District 3; Albuquerque Member - Education Commission of the States (Appointed by Governor Richardson 2003); Member - NMPSIA (New Mexico Public School Insurance Authority); Vice President - Parents Reaching Out for Children with Disabilities; Vice-Chair LESC Charter School Ad Hoc; Committee Member, LESC EIATF Ad Hoc Committee (Educational Initiatives and Accountability Task Force); UNM Educational Leadership Task Force President; De Colores Hispanic Culture Festival Vice President for Scholarships; MANA de Albuquerque Vice President; and New Mexico Human Rights Coalition Member - NARAL-NM Her awards are numerous and include the "Si Se Puede" Achievement Award, the Albuquerque Human Rights Award, the "Brindis a la Mujer Hispana" Award, the "Women on the Move" Award, the MANA National Public Service Award, and the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce Honored Visionaries in Education Award.

Christine Trujilo was invited by General George Casey to speak in Bad Krazneuch, Giessen, Baumholder in Germany and the first ever speaker to address the deployed troops in Kosovo at Camp Montieth and Camp Bondsteel. She was also the Keynote Speaker for American Federation of Teachers’ Human Rights Conference. Trujillo’s father is Pablo Augustine Trujillo who was deceased in 1996 and her mother is Susanna Floripa Trujillo de Gonzales— who is alive is 86 years old. Her father, Pablo A. Trujillo, was a guitar player with a group called Los Alegres de Taos. They played "la musica de los viejitos" turn of the century music and his music is in the archives at the Smithsonian. In addition, he had a big role in the movie, the Milagro Beanfield War. He was a character named Gomersindo Leyba in the "Senile Brigade" (the little old men with the guns in the old truck). He had several speaking lines and his band of musicians plays at the end of the movie in the beanfield harvest scene. Christine received her Masters Degree in Elementary Education from the University of New Mexico in 1988 after receiving a B.A. in Elementary Education with Bilingual Certification from New Mexico Highlands University. She has 2 daughters, 2 stepsons, and 1 absolutely darling granddaughter.

Elected in 2009 to his third term as Young Democrats President, President Abeyta was charged with overseeing the restructure and charter of the Young Democrats of New Mexico.  Abeyta's term will expire in 2011.

Abeyta served as Young Democrats President from 2000 until 2004.  During his term, he served as a Chairman of the Young Democrats of America Affirmative Action Committee, established the Rural Caucus, and remained a steward of the Minority Caucus.  In 2004, President Abeyta was recognized by the Minority Caucus as an Outstanding Leader for his commitment to civil rights.

President Abeyta is currently the owner of Abeyta and Associates, a government affairs and economic development firm.  The firm has helped local businesses grow and develop into major economic forces in their communities.  

President Abeyta attended the University of New Mexico where he pursued a degree in Political Science and English Literature.  

President Abeyta was raised in the village of Veguita in Socorro County, he currently resides in Albuquerque's South Valley where he serves as a Ward Chair.
