Heather Wilson’s Misplaced Priorities Are WRONG for New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE (June 5, 2012) – Heather Wilson is now the Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate in New Mexico. Starting tomorrow, millions of dollars of outside special interest money tied to Karl Rove will flood into our state to try and cover up Wilson's failed record and trail of corruption.

Below is a statement from Democratic Party Chairman Javier Gonzales:

"New Mexico voters are smarter than that. They remember her time in office, when Congresswoman Wilson voted six times to raise her own pay, even as she voted six times against raising the minimum wage for New Mexico workers.

She gave us two wars and a prescription drug program that weren't paid for. And she voted for tax breaks for millionaires and a $700 billion taxpayer-funded Wall Street bailout.

New Mexicans also remember that Wilson was named one of the most corrupt members of Congress after she was busted for trying to improperly pressure a prosecutor to pursue a case to help her campaign.

While Wilson continues to support tax breaks for millionaires, she refuses to oppose the Republican budget that guts Medicare and she supported privatizing Social Security. Working people in New Mexico have paid into Medicare and Social Security their whole lives and are counting on it for their retirement security."
