Albuquerque, NM - As Susana Martinez prepares to take the stage at the Republican Convention in Tampa, close Martinez adviser Pat Rogers continues to find ways to embarrass Republicans and insult New Mexicans. The following is a statement from DPNM Chairman Javier M. Gonzales:

"I'm sure there's nothing Susana would love more than to have the sole focus of the next week be her speech in Tampa. But her close personal adviser, attorney and lobbyist continues to embarrass the Governor and her Party. Pat Rogers' comments about Native Americans are completely unacceptable and continue the Todd Akin trend of disrespectful and insulting Republican behavior.

"Of course Rogers should apologize at once - both to the people of New Mexico and to the Native Americans he has taken money from and purported to represent in Santa Fe. But more importantly, Susana Martinez needs to step up and show some leadership. I am calling on the Governor to denounce these statements by Pat Rogers at once, but that's not enough. She should also ask the RNC to remove him from his role as committeeman, and she should immediately remove him from her own inner circle and cease doing business with him.

"Actions speak louder than words. She may be focused on the national picture, but right here at home she's now got some work to do to earn back the respect of New Mexicans."
