Help Us Find the Real Susana!
As Democrats, honesty and integrity are principles we hold true to ourselves, and to our elected officials. Watching the campaign for Governor unfold, it appears the Republican nominee is not holding herself to those same standards. Most of us know only what we've seen from her television ads. In those ads, Susana Martinez has taken credit for a whole lot - and promised even more - as she campaigns for Governor. By now, you've probably seen the slick, 30 second, ads proclaiming a long and successful career as a District Attorney in Doña Ana County. The primaries are now over, and it's time to stop acting - and to start getting real.
Martinez has been making bold claims about her record for years. And over these years, it’s been difficult to determine the accuracy of these claims due, in part, to Martinez's shady political maneuvering. Some things never change. Martinez is once again touting the "accomplishments" and "accolades" of her professional background with nothing to back them up.
You can help us get to the truth by Sending a Letter to the Editor
Just months ago, she cited an agency's records as fact and proof of a solid and successful career as a prosecutor, then weeks later questioned the same agency's data. Martinez has said she has an overall conviction rate in the "high 90's" and a "91% conviction rate for homicide", yet she kept a tight lid on how these extremely high numbers were calculated. What is she hiding? The problem is not the data, the problem is Martinez only uses it when it directly benefits her image. I, as I'm sure you do, feel strongly this is dishonest and immoral behavior, not befitting of our next Governor.
We cannot let Martinez distort her record and lie her way into office.
You can help us get to the truth by Sending a Letter to the Editor, asking Martinez to come clean on her record by making public ALL the facts used for her highly self-publicized "conviction rate." Help us to Spread the Word on Facebook regarding the public's need to get a real look at her record -- let your friends and co-workers know about the real Susana. And last, but certainly not least, Sign Up to Volunteer at the State Party to help us get the truth out there.
Susana Martinez has portrayed herself as a "straight shooter" with the ability to run New Mexico. How can we trust her to run an entire state, when she can't even get her own record straight? As a fellow Democrat, I'm personally asking for your help in exposing the real Susana Martinez, not the one she plays on television.
Sincerely,
Scott Forrester
