Democratic Party Chair Congratulates Michael S. Sanchez Upon His Re-Election as Majority Leader and Senator Mary Kay Papen Upon her Election as Senate Pro-Tempore

 (SANTA FE) -- Democratic Party of New Mexico Chairman Javier M. Gonzales today congratulated Senator Michale Sanchez and Senator Mary Kay Papen upon their elections this afternoon in Santa Fe: 
"Senator Sanchez has served in the NM legislature for over 20 years, and is well known as the sponsor and co-author of the 1996 Legislative Lottery Tuition Scholarship Act, which has provided 75,000 New Mexicans with money to attend college and raised over $514 million dollars through the lottery. His steadfast leadership has led to continued victories for our party and its policies.
 
"Senator Mary Kay Papen has been a tireless advocate for New Mexico and we congratulate her on her Pro Tem position.  With the nomination by Senator Campos, and second by Senator Keller, Democrats are united moving into the 2013 legislative session  Joining with Senator Sanchez, Senator Mary Kay Papen will help the Democratic majority ensure that legislation and leadership in the Senate will be able to withstand the aggressive policies of the Executive branch.
